Research Notes:  There is a headstone at the Amity Cemetery, Amity, Yamhill, Oregon for "Nathan John Newby, son of N(athan) and M(ahala), died August 19, 1866, aged 3 yrs 8 mos 22 days".
This is very interesting as it matches, but adds middle name and exact death date, the data listed for this entry at Pleasant View Cemetery. I have photographs of the headstones of both parents and the son from the Amity Cemetery. I wonder why/how he may have been buried in two places or if he was exhumed and moved to be in the family plot in Amity?

MRS. MYRTLE NICHOLSON PASSES TO THE BEYOND
Mrs. Myrtle Nicholson died Tuesday morning in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Mrs. Nicholson had long been afflicted by internal goitre, and recently had also been suffering from badly diseased teeth which had infected her system. Saturday she had a number of teeth extracted and this operation disturbed the poison in her system that a violent reaction on the heart followed and resulted in death. The news of Mrs. Nicholson's death was a shock to her friends of whom were aware that her condition was critical.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon in the M. E. church and interment will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
