Last Name:  STAHLNECKER First:  Archie Middle: Samuel

Lot # :  64

Plot # :  2

Gender:  M Birth Name:
Born:  Nov. 14, 1898 Died:  Jan. 1, 1977 Burial Date:  Jan. 5, 1977
Notes:  World War II Veteran, U. S. Army
Ledger Notes:  Age:  78 Yrs., 1 Mos., 18 Days       Funeral:  Attrell's Chapels
Neighbor Contribution:
After his parents' passings, he continued to live in the 19th C. Stahlnecker home, a square, white and ornate Italianate 2-storey structure located very close to the road and at the very edge of a big field (the 19th century farmers were very frugal about giving up good farmland for buildings) on the east side of SW Baker Road.  The Stahlnecker farm ran on both sides of the road and from near the bridge on Mill Creek north to the Jost farm.  Has since been subdivided into "ranchettes" and is listed on maps as "Wilsonville Heights".  I have no idea how that nomenclature came into being.  The house was later used for hay storage and then was razed in the 1980's.  The Stahlneckers had a prune orchard and a prune dryer on the west side of the road in the '30's/'40's and later when prunes were a cash crop in the area.

Archie was a bachelor.  A veteran and member of  VFW in Sherwood.  Participated in placing flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day along with my great uncle, Roy Baker.
